TRIBUTE TO MRS. MASTER (MUMMY)

TRIBUTE TO MRS. MASTER (MUMMY) Dedicated to Gaurang and Haren, her two sons and her daughter-in-law, Gita I had planned to write this tribute on the 100th anniversary of Mrs. Master’s birth (always Mummy to me) but was told by her two sons I was two years too late. Nevertheless, better late than never. I met Mummy for the first time in 1974 when she visited with…

MY MEMORIES OF MARYJANE

The passing of my beloved aunt, Maryjane, represents an end to an era. I will always remember her for her gentleness, kindness and generosity. She has now left us all but the fondest memories. Maryjane was more a friend than an aunt. For proof that my two sisters grew up…

WSJ Letter on Climate Change

‘I’m Not a Scientist’ — Is That a Firing Offense? https://www.wsj.com/articles/malpass-not-a-scientist-climate-change-denier-gore-kerry-world-bank-11664485974 Letters to the Editor October 1, 2022 John Kerry, Al Gore and the New York Times wrap themselves in a toga of morality for their position on climate change. They ought to visit India or Africa or South America to see the naked truth — what the lack of affordable energy does to the lives of the poor. I’m glad that Mr. Malpass isn’t buying their arguments.

Letter to Singapore’s Straits Times

What’s the matter with Singapore? I have been visiting Singapore every year to lecture for the past twenty years. I love the place. Why? it’s “Green, Clean and Safe”. This year I find the place absolutely stifling. Reminds me of the city in George Orwell’s novel “1984.” Its “Trace Together” policy captures every movement of mine. No doubt its intentions are worthy but for God’s sake Covid is not the plague. Treating it as if it is one has dire consequences. It is killing Singapore’s economy. In America where I come from it is “Live and Let Live,” In Singapore it apparently is “Live and Let Die.” I want to live. End these mandates! Open up the economy! NOW!
